Reba Denney, better known as Reba Jane, 84, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, in Birmingham, Alabama. Born on January 2, 1941, also in Birmingham, she spent her life rooted in the community that shaped her and to which she gave so much in return.
Reba was a woman of deep faith and unwavering values. A devoted member of Union Chapel Baptist Church, her Christian beliefs were the cornerstone of her life. She found joy and purpose in worship and fellowship, and her spiritual strength was evident to all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Reba embraced the simple pleasures that brought people together. She had a remarkable talent for sewing and created countless quilts over the years—each one a labor of love that warmed both body and spirit. Her cooking was another expression of care; family gatherings were often centered around meals she lovingly prepared. Whether it was a hearty dish or a sweet treat, Reba’s kitchen was always open.
She also cherished time spent outdoors. Fishing and camping were among her favorite pastimes—activities that allowed her to connect with nature and share meaningful moments with loved ones. These experiences reflected her appreciation for life’s quiet beauty and the importance she placed on togetherness.
Above all else, Reba treasured time with family. Her home was a place of comfort and welcome, where laughter echoed and memories were made. Those who knew her will remember not only her skills and passions but also the warmth of her presence and the strength of her character.
Reba was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glen Denney; her parents, Clyde and Ruby; her brothers, Phillip and Paul; her sister, Jo Helen; grandchildren Trey, Kendall, and Corey Dale; and great-grandson Kellen. Their memories remain cherished by those who continue to honor their legacy.
She leaves behind a large and loving family who will carry forward her memory with deep affection. Her children—Bobby (Jackie), David (Leigh Anne), Teresa (Billy), Lisa (Brian), and Michael (Teresa)—were the center of her world. Reba’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Lindsey (Rex), Chelsey (Demetrius), Katey (Wayne), Colby (Brooke), Mollie, Emily (Anthony), Re’Anna (Zeus), Glen, Jori (Brianna), and Tyler. Her joy multiplied with each new generation, including great-grandchildren Tyler Lynn, Ethan, Elijah, Emmitt, Lathen, Levin, Bentley, Charlotte, O’land, Rhianna, Arianna, Dexter, Aaliyah, Braxton, Carson, Raegan, Tim, Avery, Madi, Winter, Emery, Jaden, Levi, Collin and Alexis—with baby Jo soon to arrive.
May Reba Denney’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Funeral Service will be held on December 29, 2025, at Union Chapel Baptist Church 23286 SR-79.
